A style guide is a set of standards for the writing and designing of documents or products, either for general use or for a specific publication, organization or filed. The implementation of a style guide provides uniformity in style and formatting and establishes a visual identity.
Curtis Stone is an accomplished Australian chef who has become a household name in the US, the company melbourne based ‘Studio Round’ was asked to create an identity for Curtis to support the development of his celebrity status and facilitate the launch of a new range of kitchen products. The brand strategy was developed to ensure the ‘vision and culture of the organisation were aligned and points of difference clearly understood’.
On the completion of the identity a comprehensive set of guidelines was produced. In the below image you can see all the designs, colours, logos and layouts along with all the possible applications.
The brand was then bought to life on a range of product packaging and the web. Packaging varies from large box packaging for saucepans to wraps for chopping boards through to swing tags for utensils. All packaging reflects the brand personality and builds on the brand story. The products are all presented in a clean, contemporary and informative manner.
The website is a major tool that serves to explain Stone’s credentials, and underpins the brand strategy by promoting cooking as an accessible, creative and celebratory part of everyday life.
The initial establishment of the Curtis Stone as a brand and identity has allowed for the professionalism and the clean flow within all aspects of his life. Linking the name with products and a website has enabled a cohesive visual identity that conveys clean, accessible and modern cooking. This style guide works perfectly to create an entire brand.
