A style guide can be a very effective and helpful tool when it comes to branding. If a company is able to maintain visual consistency, they will likely be more recognizable. A style guide can also increase efficiency within a company. A good example of a brand that has an extensive and effective style guide is Apple.

Apple has what seems like a never ending style guide. They cover everything from logo placement, to grammar and syntax, to icon design and even advertising...etc. Because Apple is one of the most recognizable brand names that exists, I am most certainly not surprised that their style guide is so extensive.

I believe that the indisputable attention to detail is a strong point for Apple. They have seemingly thought of everything and this allows them a certain level of control of their brand image. By maintaining consistency in all matters that pertain to Apple, they have established an identifiable brand image.
