Discussion point: Lucy Threlfo

Colour management or colour space is an area of file preparation i have been looking in to for my major project. Its essential the images i am creating digitally print to the same standard and vibrancy. Colour management can be a major problem due to the conversions from RGB computer screens to CMYK printers. It is therefore essential to create a good match across the devices used in order to achieve the desired result.

A widely used system for colour management is ICC profiles (International Colour Consortium) and can be used to set any device that deals with colour, printers and computers included. A lot of maths is involved in this process but from what i gather it involves setting a standard for colours and carefully adjusting the devices until there is little difference. Colour profiles can also be adjusted manually to user preferences.

There's nothing worse than creating or designing something amazing only to have it not turn out how you planned so its important to considered colour management when designing.
